Master Decorator
Friends and family encouraged me to enter Old World Christmas’ national Master Decorator contest in the summer of 2022. To my absolute delight, I WON! They gave me a platform to share some of my favorite decorating ideas and tips — something I plan to continue and expand on my forthcoming personal YouTube channel (hopefully launching this fall!). I’ve also had the pleasure of introducing their new product lines and participating in some exciting holiday interviews! Soon, we will take our collaboration on the road when I design and install a professional Christmas tree for a deserving family or individual through their OWC 2023 Holiday Cheer Contest . Stay tuned!
About Me
It’s a pleasure to meet you!
I’m Sarah Dyne, a national award-winning holiday decorator, floral designer, and event planner. I hold the title of Old World Christmas Master Decorator and my recent interview with Detroit Channel 7 was syndicated on both Yahoo! and MSN. Each year, I design extensive holiday installations for retail, commercial, and residential locations. My original displays range from elegant and traditional to whimsical and unexpected; they are influenced by my love of storytelling, history, and nature, often incorporating vintage and handcrafted elements for truly one-of-a-kind designs. I have also planned and coordinated a wide range of events, including academic research symposiums and conferences, administrative training sessions, corporate networking breakfasts, charity fundraisers, weddings, and various other social gatherings.
Before moving into design full time, I had an academic career. I hold an MA in Literary Studies from Georgia State University (GSU) and ABD status towards a PhD in Literary Studies at GSU. My scholarship is published in peer-reviewed journals, and I have presented at over a dozen regional, national, and international academic conferences. I utilize my extensive background in academic instruction, scholarship, and administration to provide clients with practical, organized, and research-driven approaches to design and event work.
I am also a member of the East Atlanta Business Association (EABA) and a volunteer Charity Fundraising Coordinator for East Atlanta Community Association’s (EACA’s) Neighbor in Need initiative. I am available for remote and in-person holiday design consultations and installations for commercial and residential locations, and I offer customized individual and group workshops on a variety of topics. I am a self-taught designer, and I draw on my teaching background to help others learn from my experiences to develop their own skillsets. My forthcoming YouTube channel, where I will share a wide range of creative content and tutorials, is set to launch Fall 2023.
Beyond design and event work, I share my 1920 East Atlanta bungalow (lovingly nicknamed “Bluebird Cottage” for the family of eastern bluebirds that call it home every spring) with my husband, Evan, and our two dachshunds, Loki and Gulliver. We find immense joy in gardening, tackling DIY home projects, entertaining neighbors and friends, and traveling every chance we get. My ever-evolving creative endeavors are inspired by every facet of my life, including my innumerable hobbies, travels, and my insatiable curiosity that leads me down unexpected rabbit holes.
